Open Minds Shakespeare Festival is returning in 2017 for a ninth consecutive year; we think this festival might be our most exciting so far.

The Open Minds Shakespeare Festival is an annual event, which actively engages thousands of children and young people in the works of Shakespeare through performance.

This year’s festival will take place in a spectacular bespoke theatre which will be built in Clifton Park in June, with performances in the last two weeks.  New for this year, we will also be welcoming Doncaster schools to their own festival in CAST, Doncaster at the end of the first week of July.

Also new for this year, there will be special weekend performances in the Clifton Park Theatre Structure on the middle weekend of the Festival.

Since 2008, we have shared our love of Shakespeare with local teachers and children, and put Rotherham on the map for all the right reasons. We are the biggest local Shakespeare festival in the country. The quality of our support package is unrivalled and has been described by major arts organisations as ‘ground breaking’. We partner with the Royal Shakespeare Company to deliver teacher training; they’ve told us that they believe:

“Nobody is doing this, with this many young people and to this quality, anywhere in the world.”

We are taking enquiries about next year’s festival right now.  Please contact for information or to register interest in taking part.
