24th September 2016

Carnival was big news for Rotherham and the work was nationally recognised. We chose the theme of carnival as a means of bringing people together to explore their individual culture as well as a common identity .

We use the arts as a way of pulling communities together in a celebration of what makes Rotherham. We’re working with national organisations Mandinga, Rampage, UKCCA, Handmade Parade and artist Carl Gabriel; bringing the highest calibre of carnival arts from around the country to our parade.

Saturday 24 September 2016 – The People’s Parade

The parade wound through the streets of Rotherham town centre ending in Clifton park for a festival. Using the band stand, the woods and peace gardens this event brought communities together like never before! Colourscape structure also joined us in the park. There was a real party atmosphere and the day was hugely successful.
